Component qualification testing

A major/large test platform for testing a wide variety of equipment (pumps, pipework, turbines, filters, etc.) Our facilities enable us to cover a wide range of flow rates, pressures and temperatures. The platform has at least 100 test loops and an area of 4,000m².

  • Pump qualification testing (NPSH measurements, performance, flow and cavitation characteristics).
  • Pipework qualification testing (Cv measurements, operating stress, resistance, hydrostatic test)
  • Pressure test (measurement and classification of solid particles, measurement of leakage, operability measurement)

Process design and optimisation

Numerical simulation and an experimental approach, two approaches for optimum results. Our strength lies in our ability to provide several solutions to our customers' problems. We intervene in all fields linked to fluid mechanics and fluid-structure interactions.

  • Similitude studies on mockups (pumping station, spillway, wells, thresholds, water intake, discharge, validation of the engineering project)
  • Network, transient regimes and water hammer studies (analytical approach or Flowmaster)
  • Mixture and separation studies (3D numerical simulation using Fluent, water treatment, stratified flow, degassing, boiling, cavitation)

Safety assessment and analysis

We provide technical support on site or at your business location for your engineering centres. We mainly intervene in the following fields :

  • Upstream appraisals (second opinions, extensive hydraulic analyses)
  • On-site measurements (measurement of speed, pressure, flow, noise & vibration, transient phenomena)
  • Training (a varied catalogue of ready-made and bespoke training courses)

Water & Environment

Mockup hydraulic studies

A major activity for CERG ever since its creation, mockup studies are still at the heart of industrial projects. We can study the entire water cycle from source to discharge.

  • Pumping station (validation of the engineering project, measurement of speed, pre-rotation, vortex, compliance with HIS criteria, improvement proposals)
  • Water treatment factory (analysis of deposits, validation of supply speeds, treatment and separation systems)
  • Effluent discharge (quantification of impacts, optimisation of mixtures)
  • Hydraulic works (dimensions of channels, floodgates, dams, weirs and even drop testers)

Facility design and optimisation

Numerical simulation and an experimental approach, two approaches for optimum results. Our strength lies in our ability to provide our customers with several solutions to their problems We intervene in all fields linked to fluid mechanics and fluid-structure interactions.

  • Increased electricity production capabilities (improve upstream conditions for turbines, reduce pressure losses internal to the process)
  • Mixture and separation studies (3D numerical simulation using Fluent, water treatment, stratified flow, degassing, boiling, cavitation)
  • Design of innovative decontamination processes (liquid/oil separators, cyclonic separators, gravity separators and counter-rotational separators)

Impact and risk studies

The environment and risk control are at the heart of current industrial challenges. We provide a wide variety of appraisals to validate accident, terrorist attack and natural disaster scenarios.

  • Atmospheric pollution studies (mockup impact studies, definition of safety parameters, road traffic management, land-use planning)
  • Fire systems design (mockups, improvement of extraction systems, advice on chosen technologies)
  • Training (a varied catalogue of ready-made and bespoke training courses)

Transport

Performance testing and R&D

The transport revolution is under way Less noise, less CO2 and increasingly efficient equipment. It is in this context that CERG offers its services to manufacturers in this industry.

  • Material characterisation tests (thermal insulation and acoustic absorption measurements)
  • Intrinsic performance testing (measurement of pressure loss, Cv, flow, pressure, fluctuation and response time)
  • Qualification and endurance testing (valve, durability and accelerated ageing tests)

Study and improvement of design

Considerable resources and the recognised expertise to complete increasingly complex studies.

  • Water tunnel studies (propulsion system performance, study of drive units, determination of aerodynamic coefficients)
  • Wind tunnel studies (flow mapping, determination of drag coefficients, slippage, thermo-hydraulic studies, convection, conduction and radiation, etc.)
  • Process optimisation (ventilation, cooling performance, heal exchange, fluid-structure interactions)

Impact and stealth studies

Water control for air-related problems. Our similitude analysis reduces the cost and duration of our studies.

  • Fume and exhaust reduction studies (representation by similitude, numerical calculations, measurement of density, concentration, speed)
  • Flow-linked vibration assessment (measurements on the installation, proposals for improvement, determination of vibration sources)
  • Training (a varied catalogue of ready-made and bespoke training courses)

Oil & Gas

Prototype testing

At our ADF laboratory we can conduct base and crude oil tests under close to nominal operating conditions. We have been developing systems for major oil companies and petroleum engineering companies for over 25 years.

  • Oil/Water/Gas separator testing and studies (dehydrators, cyclones, gravity separators, vacuum degassing)
  • Combined-cycle turbine testing (validation of the design, performance optimisation, increased yields)
  • Fuel pump testing (performance measurements, development of more compact new technologies)

Process design and optimisation

Discovering new reserves, exploiting complex wells and coping with growing demand. These are the challenges for the 21st Century. The Oil & Gas industry is an expanding area for CERG. We conduct a wide variety of studies :

  • Network, transitory and water hammer studies (analytical approach or Flowmaster)
  • Improvement of extraction systems (Testing innovative drill pipes, reducing pressure loss, verifying seals)
  • Study of emulsion behaviours (coalescence, settling, flotation)

Impact and risk studies

The environment and risk control are at the heart of current industrial challenges We provide a wide variety of appraisals to validate accident, terrorist attack and natural disaster scenarios.
